Araucaria is a genus of evergreen coniferous trees, with Araucaria araucana being a notable species. It is characterized by spiky triangular leaves and is suitable for sun or semi-shade conditions.
Description
Araucaria is a genus of pinelike coniferous plants, mainly large trees with whorled branches and stiff, flattened, pointed leaves. They are evergreens, mostly dioecious, meaning that male and female cones are borne on separate individuals. The female cones are typically globose in shape, and the seeds of most species are edible. One of the most well-known species is the monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana). Araucaria plants are found in various countries, including Brazil, Chile, Argentina, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island, and Australia. As indoor plants, they are small evergreens with saber-like leaves that turn inward in an overlapping herringbone pattern on tiered branches.
